It is proposed that a doctor will need to conduct two patient surveys for revalidation. One will be in the first 2 years of the 5-year revalidation cycle and one in the last 2 years.
The most important aspect of undertaking a patient survey is the reflection on the result and if appropriate, implementing changes. The survey should be included in the revalidation portfolio. It should be discussed at appraisal and any agreed actions included in the PDP.
The RCGP is reviewing the various patient surveys available and will provide guidance later on which tools are suitable for revalidation.
